This is a fabulous book I have had for years. The photographic study of the Pieta has such beautiful details and angles that nearly no one has access to seeing as it is behind bullet proof glass and very distant from the viewing space. If you ever get the chance to get the book, do it. You literally see such fine details in the sculpture-- the veins, the skin, the delicate face of the Madonna from several angles. There are amazing angles and details you won't see or understand the true masterpiece that is the embodiment of Michelangelo's Pieta.At the end of the book, there is a beautiful tribute to Michelangelo's work on this particular Pieta. I haven't seen it (the book) at the Vatican in years. If you ever get the opportunity to own it and love art, black and white photography and (one of) Michelangelo's finest works, get it.
