Reviews
This book is absolutely designed for every A57 owner except a professional photographer who has already been using a Sony SLR or SLT. I challenge any A57 owner below that level not to find some very useful information in this guide. Every camera I have used up to this point has been a point and shoot, disposable, or phone camera. I wanted to step up to a new level and decided to purchase my Sony A57. Without the Busch guide I would have been treating this A57 like a point and shoot. The factory guide gives you nothing and there ain't much on YouTube in the way of A57 instruction either. I opened the box to my A57, looked at the useless included guide and just started shooting pictures on full auto. A total waste of all the features of the camera and I became frustrated in the knowledge I was missing out on things. That's when I stumbled across David Busch's A57 guide. The beauty of this book is that it explains things in a way that is useful for novices (myself) and pros alike. I wanted to know how my camera works (settings, features, functionality), but I also needed understanding of aperture, ISO, shutter speed selection, white balance, etc. and this book provides it. Not just the "what" (thats easy to find out by just using Google), but the "why" (a more elusive concept). And this is provided in a way that simultaneously explains how to perfect those settings with YOUR A57 camera. Not generically for any camera. But if you already are proficient in those topics, you can just skip to the areas of the guide that directly address the buttons and functionality of the camera. I also love how the Busch guide integrates instruction on lighting and photo editing. Things that I really wanted to learn about as well. The diagrams and photographic examples generously placed throughout the book were truly indispensable. This book has really unlocked the features and potential of the a57 for me. It is helping me get my money's worth out of the camera. Thank you David Busch for making this guide! Required reading!
