Reviews
I would consider myself an “intermediate” photographer. My first camera in 1970 was a Nikon F, and I’ve been a Nikon guy, ever since. This is my first digital SLR camera. I bought it in 2010 as a “Black Friday” special. After I got it, I skimmed the manual and started to take photos. For a couple of years I used it regularly, but was frustrated because I could never seem to match the image quality of my Nikon Photomic FTn. Eventually, the bag got stuck in a drawer and was replaced by an Apple iPhone.I recently loaned the camera to a friend who wanted to get some experience with different cameras to help him make a purchase decision. He shared a number of the photos he took with it over the next several months, and I was struck by the technical quality of the images. That got me to thinking about what he was doing differently.Turns out he took the time to really get to know and understand the camera much more in-depth than I ever did. That prompted me to look for a practical guide to the camera, not just the factory manual. Since the camera has been discontinued years prior, I was actually able to find thoroughly-reviewed books; the real problem was finding a copy of one of the highly-rated but out-of-print books. This is a review both of the book and the seller. The book was a clearly-written, technically in-depth, easy-to-read guidebook stuffed with detailed explanations of every feature, and suggestions for how to take maximum advantage.Highly recommended, if you have a Nikon D3100, and if you can find a copy!As for the seller, Read to Grow through the Amazon Marketplace, the service was outstanding. The condition of the book was as described or better, it was very carefully packed, and it arrived two days EARLIER than the earliest expected delivery date. I would not hesitate to buy from them, again!
